Self-Love is dang good medicine…
It feels so healing to be gentle and kind to ourselves, especially in tough times. Yet a cancer diagnosis can ignite painful BS (belief systems) that create self-blame, shame, pressure, and guilt. “Cancer is my fault. I shouldn’t feel this way. I can’t handle this. I’m a failure. I’m not good enough. I’ll make the wrong decision. I am a sick person. It’s my job to heal cancer.”
Breaking free from the BS and learning to love myself “in sickness and in health” has been a huge focus of my 10+ year cancer journey. I’ve come to discover that cancer isn’t an enemy – it’s actually a wise teacher of self-love and care. An invitation to be more compassionate and accepting of myself – even when I’m a spiraling, hot mess 😉
